Configure Exclusions for Windows Defender

Exclusions are a set of folders, files, processes, or URLs to be trusted and excluded from future scanning by Antivirus software
Before You Begin
- Enable 'Show Hidden Folders' (click here)
Add Exclusions
Steps
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings > Scroll down the page and Click 'Add an exclusion'
For 64-bit computers (most computers)
- Exclude the following Folders
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Shell\*
- *\AppData\Roaming\Windows Shell\*
- Exclude the following Process
- *\main_installer.exe
- *\update_client.exe
- *\ws_process_monitor_service.exe
- Exclude the following Folders
- C:\Program Files\Windows Shell\*
- *\AppData\Roaming\Windows Shell\*
- Exclude the following Process
- *\main_installer.exe
- *\update_client.exe
- *\ws_process_monitor_service.exe

After adding exclusions you can renable Windows Defender
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings > Turn ON Real time protection
