This guide will show you how to root the HTC One Mini 2 Android phone.

What is needed to root the HTC One Mini 2?
In order to root the HTC One Mini 2 you will need the following.
Step 1 – Download the HTC USB drivers and install them on to your PC
You must download and install the USB drivers for your device on to your PC. You can get them from here. Save the file to your PC and install it to install the drivers.
Step 2 – Unlock the HTC One Mini 2 bootloader
Before you can root the device you must unlock the bootloader. We explain how to do that here.
Step 3 – Download Fastboot
Download Fastboot and save it to your PC. Save it to an easy to find location on your PC such as the desktop. You can get it from here.
Step 4 – Download the TWRP custom recovery
You must flash a custom recovery to the device in order to root it. You can get it from here. Save the file to your desktop. When downloaded rename the file so that it is called recovery.img.
Step 5 – Download SuperSU
Download SuperSU from here. Save it the desktop of your PC. Do not extract it.
Step 6 – Enable USB debugging on the HTC One Mini 2
On the device go to Menu > Settings > Developer options > USB debugging and make sure the option is checked.
Step 7 – Copy SuperSU to the HTC One Mini 2
Now that the device has USB debugging enabled connect it to your PC (tap Yes on the device when asked) and then copy the SuperSU zip file from step 4 to an easy to find location on the device such as the Downloads folder.
Step 8 – Install the custom recovery
On your PC desktop hold down the Shift key and right-click and click Open a command window here.
In the command window that appears type the following and press Enter when done.
adb reboot bootloader
The device should reboot in to the bootloader.
Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to select the Fastboot option and select it with the Power button.
On your PC, in the command window, type the following and press Enter when done.
fastboot boot recovery.img
The device should boot in to the custom recovery mode using the file you downloaded and renamed from step 3.
Step 9 – Root the device
With the device booted in to custom recovery tap Install and then browse to the SuperSU zip file you copied to the device in step 6.
Tap on Swipe to confirm Flash.
Once the file has been flashed reboot your device by tapping Reboot and then System.
Once the device reboots you should now see SuperSU installed as a new application meaning that you have successfully rooted the device.
