How to root the Samsung Galaxy Pocket (GT-S5300)


This guide will show you how to root the popular Samsung Galaxy Pocket phone from Samsung.

What is needed to root the Samsung Galaxy Pocket?

In order to root the Samsung Galaxy Pocket you will need the following.

  • The Samsung Galaxy Pocket you want to root in your hand.
  • A PC.

Step 1 – Download the Samsung Galaxy Pocket root package

In order to root the device you must download the root package to your PC. You can get it from here. Do not extract it.

Once you have downloaded it to your PC connect the device to your PC and copy the root package to an easy to find location on the device such as the Downloads folder.

Step 2 – Root the Samsung Galaxy Pocket

Now that we have all we need it is time to root the Samsung Galaxy Pocket. Before we can do that you must first put the Samsung Galaxy Pocket in to Recovery mode which can be done using the following steps.

Make sure the Samsung Galaxy Pocket is powered off completely.

Hold down the Volume up and the Home key and the power button and keep all three buttons pressed until the Samsung Galaxy Pocket powers up with the Samsung logo.

Let go of all three buttons and the device should boot in to recovery mode.

Choose ‘Apply update from SD card’ and browse to the root package on the device you copied from step 1.

Apply the update and then reboot the device.

Once the Samsung Galaxy Pocket starts up properly simply go to Apps and look for the Superuser icon that should now be present. If you can see this icon it means that the Samsung Galaxy Pocket has been successfully rooted.
