What does KnowIT do?

In a nutshell, you can monitor application use and web sites visited, various E-Mail and IM chats, prevent data leaks with file transfer and activity monitoring, set alerts for unusual or malicious network activity, receive productivity and attendance reports, and more.

What does KnowIT DLP do?

KnowIT’s DLP service tracks all protected file movements across external cloud services, web-mail and attachments, USB, IM chats, FTP or printed.
KnowIT’s DLP also tracks any protected file modifications, such as creation, deletion, renaming or merging of data. KnowIT can even alert you when protected files are added to a new zip file.
Additional modules help add to the bigger picture by alerting you to employee patterns otherwise missed.

Can KnowIT block file file transfers?

We are currently working on an improved DLP module which will have powerful blocking features based on file or directory sources, USB and destinations such as network drives and cloud services.
The DLP module will include all existing file transfer & activity monitoring features and will be available in your KnowIT account very soon.

Can KnowIT block websites or applications?

You are able to set specific applications and websites as prohibited. If your employees try to access these  these sites or applications, the action can be blocked. You may set your own custom warning message to be displayed.

Can the data be exported?

You can export your data from inside your KnowIT account and download it to your computer.
From the Main menu open Tools page and then select "Export Data"

Can I control the software remotely?

Your KnowIT portal gives your complete control of all KnowIT clients that you deploy and activate. You can enable or disable trackers for any of the clients remotely. KnowIT clients can also be updated or upgraded remotely no need to reinstall.

Can KnowIT track file transfers?

This feature is part of the File Transfers and Activity module for $2 per month per device.
This feature monitors and sends alerts when a file is edited, deleted, copied, renamed or merged with other files.It can track file uploads and downloads including cloud services, attachments and USB connections.
It can set alerts for the creation, modification and movement of important files across or exiting your network.

Can i track GPS location and set geofences?

KnowIT can track location enabled devices, such as phones and even PCs, and display them on a map. You can see where all your devices are and have been at a quick glance inside your KnowIT account.
You can also define specific areas on the map (geofences) which will alert you if a device enters or exits them, so you don't have to keep watching the screen to know when your team is on the move."

Does KnowIT do MDM?

KnowIT MDM is included as part of our Standard mobile monitoring product, meaning you also receive powerful benefits like location tracking, call recording, and much more.

Can KnowIT record phone calls?

With KnowIT installed, you can record both incoming and outgoing phone calls on your Android iPhones. You can review, listen and download all your recordings from your KnowIT account.
While recording of both sides of the call is supported by KnowIT, there may be some variation in performance depending on the specific device model you use. We recommend taking advantage of your 14 day free trial to test this before committing to a paid subscription.

What network activity can KnowIT monitor?

The Network Activity monitoring module includes network connections, bandwidth usage, port detection and network threats detection.
Detect malicious applications by setting alerts for unusual port activity, excessive individual bandwidth consumption, and extreme unique connections.

How does KnowIT track an employee's productivity?

Productivity is a measure of how much time an employee spends using applications and web sites that are defined as productive to their job roles.
This can be defined by an admin or manager by creating Productivity Groups that include Productive, Unproductive and Prohibited sites and applications, and adding employees into these different Productivity Groups based on their department or job roles. KnowIT then calculates how they spend their time based on these values and applies a meaningful percentage of productivity over a specified time.
Productivity Reports can also provide other insights and useful information such as the most productive, neutral or non-productive hours, top 5 most productive employees and bottom 5 least productive employees. All settings can be adjusted by the admin or manager to suit what is most applicable to each individual employee or group of employees.

Can I monitor an employee in a different office or another country?

KnowIT is a cloud-based service, so you can always access your data from anywhere, anytime. All you need is an internet connection!
Additionally, the devices you monitor can also be anywhere and in use at anytime, making KnowIT equally great for keeping tabs on your remote teams, or checking up on the office while you're away.

Can I set up reports to be sent by email?

You can create a custom schedule for emailing any of the reports for attendance, alerts, productivity or others.
You can set this up from your KnowIT account dashboard. Go to Main Menu > Tools > Email Reports.
You can also see custom reports at any time from Main Menu > Reports.

Who is KnowIT for?

KnowIT is designed for corporate managers and business owners looking to monitor employee productivity and daily activities on company devices (desktops or mobiles).

Is there a free trial?

Yes, when you sign up for KnowIT the first 14 days are free. Signing up for KnowIT does require a credit card, but if you're not satisfied with KnowIT you can cancel at any point during the trial and you will not be charged.

Where is the data stored?

The KnowIT servers are hosted in a secure environment provided and managed by Rackspace in the U.S.A.

What languages are supported?

KnowIT's user interface is only available in English, however displaying data, setting up alerts and restrictions will work correctly in other languages and character sets.

Will KnowIT slow down our computers/phones or consume a lot of bandwidth?

KnowIT has a minimum impact on computer resources under normal use.
For mobile devices, battery usage and bandwidth may increase based on the number and type of activities you are logging, and how frequently the logs are set to be uploaded. For example, frequent GPS updates requires more battery, and uploading large media requires more bandwidth.

How secure is our data?

KnowIT cloud services are hosted within a Rackspace data center in the USA, well recognized for its industry standard and secure infrastructure.
Communications between KnowIT clients and servers use encrypted SSL, HTTPS and Websockets protocols to protect your account information and all data transferred between the clients and server.

What is the limit for data storage?

Storage limits are not currently enforced. However, captured data is only available for 12 months with annual licenses, and 12 weeks with monthly licenses.
For example, if you have a monthly license and renew it continually for more than 3 months (12 weeks), only the first (most recent) 12 weeks of data will remain accessible in the online account storage.
However you may always export your data at any time.

Will employees know they're being monitored?

KnowIT does not appear as an app that can be found or accessed by the employees, and it's installation folders are hidden by default.
However , knowing that productivity and office resources are being monitored may help your employees maintain higher security and productivity standards. But this is entirely up to you.

What does KnowIT do?

KnowIT is a SaaS cloud solution that allows managers to monitor employee productivity and daily activities on their company devices.

Is there an annual discount?

If you select annual billing you will receive a 10% discount on your subscription amount.

Is there a discount for educational or academic institutes?

We support academic institutions by offering a 50% discount on KnowIT subscriptions.
Speaking to one of our sales staff can help you narrow down the modules that you actually need and will help to further reduce your subscription amount.

How many devices can we monitor?

Each KnowIT license covers 1 device. You can monitor activity on as many devices as you need, as long as you have enough licenses in your account.
There is no restriction to the number of users of the devices. Eg. If you have shared resources where multiple users log on to the same machine, you still only need 1 license per device.

How do I purchase?

To get started, signup for the free trial. If you are happy with the service and want to continue after the trial period, there's nothing needed to do. Unless you cancel during the trial period, your subscription will start automatically.
If you want to adjust the number of types of licenses in your subscription, you can manage this from inside your account.

How much does a license cost?

Is there a refund policy?

To request a refund, please send us an email to support@digitalendpoint.com detailing the exact license keys you wish refunded, and all applicable information.

Do you have a beta testing program?

Existing users which match criteria relevant to new features we are releasing may be invited to participate in beta testing.

How do I uninstall KnowIT?

How to uninstall?" "You can uninstall your KnowIT clients from inside your account. Simply locate the device in your device list and select Uninstall.
If you need more help please send an email to support@digitalendpoint.com with as much detail as possible including the license number, and our techs will reply and help you.

Can I use antivirus software with KnowIT?

You can absolutely use antivirus with KnowIT! To install KnowIT you must temporarily disable the a/v app’s real time scanning function.
After installation, the KnowIT application files and folders must be excluded from the a/v scanner, which we provide guides for. Then you may re-enable your a/v protection as normal.

Does KnowIT work offline?

KnowIT requires an internet connection to upload data to the cloud, however if a device's connection is temporarily unavailable, then KnowIT will still continue to collect the data and then resume uploading to the cloud once it is back online.

How long is the data stored?

On a monthly subscription, you will be able to access the last 12 weeks of data. For annual, you can access a full year's worth of data.

How can I install KnowIT?

Multiple installation methods are available for different environments. Typical one-to-one installation begins by logging into your KnowIT account and following the step by step Install Wizard inside your dashboard. Software is then downloaded directly from our server to the phone or computer.
Optional installation methods are available such as MDM installation for mobile devices, or deploying in batch on a Windows network via Group Policy, or via USB.

How to install on Android?

You can install KnowIT on Android phones that are either rooted or non-rooted. Most features and MDM do not require the device to be rooted.
To install on your Android device, open the Tools section in your KnowIT account and select "Install Device Software". Choose Android and then select you install type. You must have physical access to the phone.

What are the minimum requirements for self-hosting?

Minimum requirements for a privately hosted or custom cloud solution depend on the size and activity of the monitored client base. For smaller organizations an entry level AWS spec may suffice, although if monitoring many clients with many log features enabled, you may need more resources. An example AWS system could begin with an Intel based dual core/8GB memory, or quad core/16GB memory. What are minimum system requirements for Windows?

Here is the list of minimum requirements to install KnowIT on a desktop Windows computer:
* Windows 7/8/10 (64 bit)
* Internet Connection
* Pentium 4, 1 GHz or faster
* 2GB RAM, 4GB preferred
* 500mb free hard drive space

Will KnowIT work with a VPN?

KnowIT will work just fine with VPN software as long as there is a connection to the internet.
