KnowIT Location Tracking Demo

Location Reports

Overview
Location Reports allow a KnowIT administrator to access real time tracking of all active licenses, create custom maps for specific groups of devices, and set permitted and restricted Alert Zones.

The Location marker for a device can be clicked on for more options. The map itself can be zoomed in or out, and moved around with the mouse.

Create and View Custom Location Maps

The Map drop-down at top left sidebar allows you to select and create custom location maps for specific devices.

Select the default "All Devices" to see a quick overview of where all your activated devices are currently located.

Select “Create New Map” to add selected devices to your own custom maps, which will then also appear in the drop-down list.

Create a Custom Map

Click Create New Map and give your new map a name.

After creating a map, select it from the list and then click “Add Device” at the bottom of the sidebar.

Then select a device to add to your map, select a marker style and color, and click “Add To Map”.

Locating Devices

From the Devices tab, click on any device to automatically center the map on it’s location marker.

Click on a device’s info icon to either remove it from a map or go to it’s Tracker page.

(Devices cannot be removed from the default All Devices map.)

Setting Alerts

Alerts can be set to trigger when a device either leaves a Permitted Zone or enters a Restricted Zone.

A Permitted Zone triggers an alert when a tracked device leaves the zone.

A Restricted Zone triggers an alert when a tracked device enters the zone.

Click the “Alert Zones” tab, and then “Add Alert Zone” from the bottom of the sidebar.

Give the Zone a name and then click “Draw Zone”.

Position the map to your chosen location by zooming in or out, and clicking and dragging into position.

Once the area of interest is centered, click the mouse once and drag outward to define a radius. Click the mouse again to set the radius boundary zone.

If you need to adjust or reset an Alert Zone, click where you want to center the alert and drag outward until the preferred radius, and then click once more to set it.

Once satisfied with the radius of the alert zone, click “Save” underneath the map zone settings page.

Route Tracking

Route Tracking animates the physical movement of tracked devices during specific dates and times.

For shorter distances zoom into the map to follow the actual street turns, etc. For longer distances zoom out to keep the route movement in view.

Route tracking can be viewed for individual or multiple devices, though it may be difficult to follow movement of multiple devices travelling in several directions at once.

To see the Route Tracking, click “Track Routes” at the bottom of the devices panel.

Then select the device or devices you want to view, add them to the list and click “Track Routes”.

Then select a calendar date and choose the time (from/to) or select “all day”.

Click “Apply”.

The map will center on the device or will zoom out to show all device locations if multiple devices have been selected.

At the top of the tracking page is a 24hr timer we can manually scrub through, or use standard Play/Pause buttons to view the recorded movement throughout the various times of the 24 hour period. If the movement exits the frame, zoom out on the map to keep the movement in view.

Below is a short clip to demonstrate these easy steps.
